CURRENTLY ON STAFF

Becky Shaffer, Co-Founder & Executive Director

For over 18 years, Becky and her husband Kent have invested their lives in children's ministry, mostly teen girls.  They have three daughters - Christin, 20, Hannah, 14, and Caitlynn, 5 . . . and many other young women who have been engrafted into their family.  Becky has helped young women find their identity in Christ through life books projects, purity retreats, and women's conferences.  Kent has a master's in Business Leadership and Ethics from John Brown University along with 8 years experience in Non-profit leadership.  Kent and Becky are aware of the risks and needs these young women face and seek to honor God by helping young women in need through their service and by developing partnerships with local businesses, donors, and professionals to "repair the breach and restore the streets" in Northwest Arkansas.

Jaclyn Williams, Volunteer & Program Coordinator

Jaclyn has lived in Northwest Arkansas for 26 years, and has been married to her husband Jeremiah for 13 years.  While they have no kids, they do have a dog named Oswald.  She has a degree in Early Childhood Education, and prior to coming on board at Saving Grace worked for 9 years in the Rogers Public School system.  When asked about how God brought her to serve at SGI, she reported that she heard about Saving Grace through a teacher friend that had one of Becky's daughter in class.  Excited about what she heard, Jaclyn set up a time to meet Becky and started volunteering in June 2009.  After much prayer with her husband and recognition of God's calling, Jaclyn actually quit her job in order to volunteer to an even greater degree (due to the nature and growing eeds of this new program).  She remained in her volunteer position until March 2011, when the board of directors made arrangements for her to come on part-time as the official "Volunteer Coordinator."  In August 2011 she started full time as the "Volunteer and Program Coordinator."

Sarah E. Baum, BSW, Program Manager

Sarah and her husband Mike (of 8 years) recently moved to the Northwest Arkansas area, having ministered together at a private children's home in Northeastern Oklahoma the previous 9 years.  Their two "squirrelly girlies" keep them hopping, and at 4 and 2 years old there is rarely a dull moment.  Sarah graduated from Kentucky Christian College in 2001 with a degree in Social Work and has been grateful for opportunities to use her training/experiences in the ministry capacity.  Having worked closely with Kent and Becky Shaffer at the children's home in Oklahoma, Sarah was excited to watch their vision/passion for independent living develop into what is now Saving Grace.  She is equally excited to come on part-time as the "Program Manager" and hopes to use her gifts to further refine the delivery of services and programs at SGI.

Laisa Bernard, Resident Assistant

Laisa was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas.  She has worked at the Walmart Home Office over the past 5 years and heard about Saving Grace through one of our mentors.  Having a strong desire to volunteer and make an impact on others' lives, she decided to apply to also become a mentor.  In response, she was approached about providing valuable support through the "Resident Assistant" role, which she accepted in late July 2011.  According to her, she didn't realize that God had other plans for her life, and she feels truly blessed to be a part of this ministry.  "I cannot wait to see what God has in store for Saving Grace."

Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Stephanie Davis, Resident Assistant

Stephanie graduated from John Brown University in 2011, where she studied Child & Family Studies and Family & Human Services.  Her journey with Saving Grace began in May 2010 when she read about the ministry in a local magazine.  The story grabbed her heart and she decided to give Becky a call.  She spent the summer volunteering and has been involved in one way or another since then!  In February of 2011, the RA position opened and God brought her to the Saving Grace staff.  She is thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside the residents of SGI, "whether it be laughing, having late night talks, eating way too much ice cream, painting nails, or watching these girls overcome."

Isaiah 41:10: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
