Janina (deemed Gigi after coming to Saving Grace), applied for our program two years ago. Shy and timid, Gigi could hardly make eye contact with the interview team. She moved in with only a few belongings, but loads of wounds that ran deep in places of her heart not willing to be exposed.
Gigi's diligence, along with her mentors (Kim, Lisa and Norma) have made all the difference for this young woman. It was through these things that she allowed God to heal painful wounds that tied her to past neglect and abuse. Janina now is now a certified Pharmacy Technician, owns a vehicle, knows how to budget and has her "emergency fund" saved (per Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace recommendations).
As time drew near for her to transition, Gigi felt God tugging at her heart to take one more adventure with Him before finding her "place" in the community of Northwest Arkansas--spurred on by a mission trip she had recently enjoyed. So, she left for a 6-month tour on the "mission field" with YWAM...raising her own support. This is a note she left for us:
"Thank you so much for the opportunity you have given me to heal, grow, and be the confident person I am meant to be! It has been a hard road but I wouldn't tradee it for anything in the world! I not only grew but also gained amazing mentors and friends along my journey! This road may end today but you will always have a special place in my heart! I cannot wait to see all the amazing girls I live with get a hold of the beautiful purpose in their lives!! I'm so humbled and grateful for you Ms Becky, board members and staff! You daily help us girls fulfill our dreams--not just any kind, but our God given ones and our Savior has blessed all of our hearts with patience, joy, and love that you put in serving His kingdom and taking care of His daughters. As I leave for YWAM today, consider it my way of paying it forward. You have touched me and changed my life, now I am ready...even nervous... to go out in the world and love those who are hurting! Thank you a million times!! Touch one, touch all. Awesomeness!! Love you all!!" ~Gigi
anna (in her words)
“Since graduating from Saving Grace. I attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock until a slot with the United State Air Force opened for me. On May 8th, 2012, I shipped for
basic military training at Lackland Airforce Base, Texas. After eight and a half long weeks I graduated Top 5 of my class. I am now currently stationed in Tyndall AFB, FL where I am
a part of the B25 MXS Squadron. I am currently working on upgrade training as well as building a spiritual community on and off
Recently I was promoted from an Airman Basic to an Airman. Upon completion of my upgrade training I will return to school to complete my school in hopes to apply for law school in the late semester of 2015.
Thank you for everything. I still stay in touch with my mentors, my friends for life.”
