FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This application is used to determine the amount of money you can be expected to contribute to the price of attending college or training school. The results of the FAFSA are used in determining student pell grants, work study, loan amounts, and eligibility/need for additional scholarships. While many things related to the FAFSA are the same for everyone, there are a few things that you should know as an individual who has experienced foster care (CLICK TO LEARN MORE). Knowing/doing these things could mean the difference between getting pell grants to pay for school (free money!) versus having to get loans that you'll likely pay on for many, many, many years (ugh!).
