Through the generous hearts within our community we can accomplish our mission . . . helping a forgotten population unlock the doors of opportunities that enable them to break the cycle of poverty and abuse that is, often times, their reality. In order to do this, we rely on the generous giving of our community and supporters who believe in providing opportunity, hope and security to these women. One of the great ways you can help is to sponsor our third annual Butterflies & Blooms luncheon at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:30 AM. We anticipate this year to be even bigger and far reaching!

 

We are very excited to have Dr. Rebecca Aleck as our keynote speaker. Dr. Aleck, one of five children, has an incredible story to share about overcoming the odds after having been placed in foster care as a teenager. Some interesting facts about our speaker include:

  • Mother of two children
  • Graduate of Northwest Arkansas Community College, Associate of Science in Biology (2005)
  • Graduate of University of Arkansas with Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (2007)
  • Graduate of AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (2011)
  • Currently an Internal Medicine Resident at Saint Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, NY
  • 1 of 100 Top Leaders University of Arkansas (2007)
  • 1 of 2 Non-traditional Student Leaders of the Year, University of Arkansas (2005)
  • Trio Achiever Award (2007)
  • Day of Compassion Essay Contest winner
